Trace Elements Laboratory

Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA), is an analytical test which measures the mineral content of the hair.

Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) simply stated, is a screening test that measures the mineral content of your hair. However, a hair tissue mineral analysis is much more than a test for minerals:

  • 8 Toxic Heavy Metal Elements
  • 15 Essential Minerals
  • 6 Significant Mineral Ratios
  • 9 Toxic Mineral/Metal Ratios
  • And much more!

HTMA PROFILE 2
Multi-Element Assay (36 Elements) of Hair.

Description

Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA), is an analytical test which measures the mineral content of the hair.

The sampled hair, obtained by cutting the first inch and one-half of growth closest to the scalp at the nape of the neck, is prepared in a licensed clinical laboratory through a series of chemical and high temperature digestive procedures. Testing is then performed using highly sophisticated detection equipment and methods to achieve the most accurate and precise results from Trace Elements, Inc.

I do not recommend any in-office devices or any other laboratories to assess your hair mineral status. Here is why:

The multi-element assay of hair (36 elements) is performed by a federally licensed clinical laboratory called Trace Elements, Inc., who have been in business since 1984, and are considered the most accurate and reliable laboratory for HMTA.

The hair sample is prepared through a series of chemical and high temperature digestive procedures. Testing is then performed using highly sophisticated detection equipment and methods to achieve the most accurate and precise results.  Unlike some labs that test for hair minerals, Trace Elements, Inc. does not wash the hair at the lab. Washing the hair removes some of the loosely bound minerals and can reduce some mineral readings by 50% or more.
